Mine has stopped working so l don't know if it's the sensor or the gauge? How do l test them? I do have an electrical tester onboard but are these things testable in situ?

Hi, these sensors invariably work by allowing current to earth as the temp. increases. Join your tester on OHMS, one lead to each terminal when cold and mark the reading-should be infinity. Now drop into a pan of water, still connected and watch what happens as it gets hot.It should make a circuit from a reasonable resistance when warm to very little resistance when really hot. Hope this helps.

Generally speaking, European coolant sensors will read about 280ohms @ 40c / 70ohms @ 80c and 20ohm @ 120c. U.S. ones, like their other senders have different values.
