Perkins 4236 Clutch / Gearbox

Hi Folks,

I have a Perkins 4236 with a Borg Warner gearbox. I have trouble finding neutral sometimes and it can be tricky sometimes when I am starting up in a lock!!! Mechanic has adjusted clutch but says that I will eventually need a new one. As this will be expensive I am wondering if there are any other options (1) to fix my problem and (2) to upgrade while I have the gearbox out anyway? Would appreciate any advice!

Inside the gear box are copper plates which can be renewed , but most likely the axis on which the clutch moves back and forward has worn out and needs to be replaced . This axis is situated inside the box and so you have to open it . The job is not so difficult though , I did it last year on my son's BW .

Sounds good....is there a manual available? e.g. something like a Haynes car manual
