New owner of a venerable block of rust which insists on running perfectly (so far)
I'd assumed a heat exchanger from all the gubbins/pipes on the ally manifold but no.
The manifold is showing signs of electrolytic corrosion, I'd like to change it but does the raw cooled version have provision for a fw recirc pump? ( Assuming I can find an indirect manifold) Also, any provision for anodes ?

There should be plenty of secondhand bits around.

Perkins never made a marine version of the 4-108 themselves. They used to sell basic 4-108s to jobbers who made up there own versions. You may be able to pick a few different versions here.

I am amazed! I converted my 4-108 from single groove pulleys to double groove just as these people have done.

What it sound like to me is the OP wished to convert a raw water cooled perkins to a indirect cooled engine,

If the engine already had a water cooled exhaust manifold all the OP needs is a heat exchanger to cool the fresh water circuitling around the engine and the raw water will still cool the exhaust after it passed through the heat exchanger that will cool the fresh water.

This is the type of heat exchanger that was fitted to my leyland engine

I think Bowman may have one to a perkins 4 108

Looks like bowman do a combined heat exchanger and water cooled manifold.

You also need to look at what water pumps you have a direct only needs a raw water pump but indirect need 2. One is normally the one that is used to circuit fresh water which may or may not exist and the raw water which could be already their in the raw water cooled engine.

Heat Exchanger Manifold and Header Tank PE180

Lancing Marine of Portslade used to supply equipment (manifold, header tank) to enable conversion of a 4108 to indirect cooling. Some very experienced people there, certainly worth a call.
