Perkins 4108 Oil Pressure Sender Problem

!/8" npt is a very common size for senders, but not universal. It won't be L/H if that's what you mean by reverse thread.
AFAIK, the hex. size for 1/8" npt senders is 5/8"a/f, but I'm not certain.
Anyway, over £30 for a deep socket seems a total rip-off. A deep socket or a box-spanner of that size should be less than a fiver. Worth a punt?
Senders are sometimes fitted into adapters for larger threaded holes.

If it's the correct toll, then its not just a deep socket. This is the unit to remove:

I've just had a look at old ones taken from my 4108 and am a bit confused.
The oil pressure switch ( closes when pressure rises, to delay start generator) is standard 15/16" socket.
The oil pressure sender is a cylindrical (almost) thing about 4cm in diameter (please excuse the change in units, that's what properly fits)
It has 17mm socket size flats next to the thread ,no use to you if you can't get to them with an open-ender from the side. If you've broken off the
cylindrical piece, a standard 17mm socket will do, normal thread.
For info the markings on the sender are : VDO made in germany. and on the "nut" faces: 32-7 7.73 0 - 5 KP/cm2
Rather than spending dosh on a 'use once' expensive socket, do you not have some rusty old box spanners lying at the bottom of the box?

Sorry -lots of answers while I was down in the shed...smash off the cylindrical bit and use the 17mm socket.

See your point, I was going by a temp. sender I've just fitted, the hex. would take a socket.
Can't see the Ebay socket fitting the item you pictured though. I'd expect a hexagon at the top of the thread, not visible in the link, for say an open ended spanner
Isn't the bigger diameter just a cover, not suited to taking a spanner? I realise that's not much help!

Can you do a photo?

This https://www.google.fr/imgres?imgurl=...IVhIkaCh367Q9U is what I'm trying to remove. Somebody once posted a pic of a tool like a baby oil filter tool, but I can only find them on US sites:(

I've got a pretty good tool box, but nothing will get to it, with enough purchase to unscrew the thing! :-( And to clarify,it's the pressureGauge sender I'm trying to replace, not the switch next to it.

What's a baby oil filter?I buy baby oil from Boots in a bottle and it doesn't need filtering.
