Instructions say it is attached by three set screws with allen key heads. Mine had one bolt and two nuts onto in situ studs. I can replace the top two for the recommended screws and they will be much easier to get at and adjust but there is just no space at the bottom postion to use an allen key on the screw. I had a real struggle freeing off the original nut and refitting it will be very tricky. Any ideas out there? Just as an aside the engine is having a new piston fitted by the local mechanic after a disasterrous ingress of water caused by a dribbling cooling water seacock. Three of them carried it off the boat moored bows on to the pontoon! It's in Brazil.

This is taken from the original workshop manual: last pages regarding special needed tools.

I vaguely remember having cut off the end of an Allan key and inserting it into a socket and using it together with an extension bar. 30 years ago so may be deluded!

Yes, had to do exactly that last winter to get the pump off.

It was sent to lynxdiesels.co.uk for overhauling but even after 30years just needed new seals (precautionary as none were leaking). ditto the injectors.

Thanks for all that. I will keep you informed on the outcome, when I get the engine back, as long as they don't drop it in the water when lifting it aboard !
