Hi all,

I've done a search on here but still havn't found an answer to my question so I thought I'd better consult the 'Oracle' on here.
I have a Seamaster 30 fitted with the ubiquitous twin Perkins 4108's.
What I want to do this winter is drain both engines of coolant and then refill with fresh antifreeze/coolant and distilled water but don't know if the Perkys have a drain tap/plug or whether you have to take off a water hose to drain.
If there is a drain tap could someone kindly tell me where it is as the manual I have doesn't seem to show it.

Thanks to all....:encouragement:

Dan.

Without knowing exactly what closed circuit cooling system the engine has fitted, it can be difficult to identify these..
However, I recall the standard tap position is Injector side - LHS rear lower position on the cylinder block.
If this area has a cooler fitted - probably, then it should still be in the lower LHS rear position on the cooler. There should also be a plug to the front top of cylinder head to help drain.
brass plug or possibly something that looks lke a little bronze 't'.
Anything below the level of where your sump joins the block will probably leak oil if opened..

Certainly do No Regrets. Definitely a horse, horses are the most noble of creatures. Nobody ever became a hero leading a cavalry charge on a lawnmower (as far as I know) :ambivalence:
