Good point! I have yesterday bought a new secondhand yacht with the 4108 engine and it comes complete with both service and parts manual. When the dust has settled, I will scan the parts manual as well..

How to use FTP:

Go to the address bar on Explorer and similar on Firefox.. if you dont know what that is ask a 10 year old - if you look at the line which starts http://www.ybw.com /....... that is the address bar

type in its place starting hard left:-

ftp://stewartbray:yottie@users.firenet.uk.com

You will get an icon with 4108 and a PDF format logo. Right click the mouse and click on "copy/save file as" - enter a file name and the system will indicate that it is copying - looks like it is throwing files around. Wait a bit as the file is about 30mb - have a G&T or few

Tried the ftp address (several times, with and without caps etc) no luck!
message suggests that one needs permit or ID to access this, can you help.

I have read all sorts of posts on the 4108/7. It would seem to be an engine still in common use and, potentially with some years life in them. It would seem to be a good idea to bring together what info there into one area. Clearly the manual would be central to this.
There is for example a post about rubber hoses where the enquirer is advised to try to source them from motor factors, it would be nice if his findings were put into this 'Perkins area' so that others could benefit from his efforts (me, for example, as I know that I should replace all the hoses this winter!!)
Standard and non standard ancillaries, starters, alternators could also be covered??

err...can you help with this ftp thing please?

Yes, tried that a few times but nothing happened, talked about passwords. Thought it must have been me, but it is working now.
