On first starting, when RPM are increased above about 1300, the oil pressure gauges has a ‘hissy fit’, manically jumping up to max and back to normal. As the oil thins on warmup, this (almost) stops.
I’m GUESSING, it’s a sticky or worn pressure relief valve? In the 4108, this is INSIDE the oil pump and totally inaccessible without removing the engine from the boat :-(
Anyone got any ideas on a fix? Tried two oil & filter changes with only very little improvement if any.
What’s the current thinking on ‘flushing’ oils?

Check the switch, gauge and the wiring? On my 4108 ( the best engine ever to grace a boat..) the oil pressure alarm cheeped and chirped away to itself on idle, but only on first start or after a run. The oil pressure was just fine..
