In having my gene exhaust replaced because it leaked we had to remove one main engine exhaust hose 8 inches diameter and were horrified to find that it was in a very poor state internally, had delaminated etc. Then we checked the other hose and it was even worse!

It looked as if the hose had only hours to go before bursting through.

As a result of this I have replaced every single hose throughout the engine.

The most worrying aspect was that externally the hoses looked perfect, there is only just over 200 hours of use on them as well. My guess is that time is also a critical factor and maybe they just perish over time and should be replaced regardless at regular intervals.

I thought this worth mentioning as I personally was not aware of how spotless these things can look externally whilst being in a total state of internal collapse.

Cheers
Paul

People suffering overheating problems can often trace the cause to this. Pipes get warm and flatten under pressure, instead of sucking water they suck themselves flat.

Hi Paul
glad you found the problem before any damage was done. You should have seen the state of the exhaust manifold i took of my engine!!! still top end now rebuilt, and providing manifold arrives tomorrow, should be up and running pm tomorrow,
dread to think what a job like that would have cost on your engines !!!!!!!!!!!
