Perhaps Eberspacher might start sharpening their pencils?

I've not heard of anybody's £17 heater actually turning up yet, btw! Fair bit of discussion about them on the facebook group.

What do people expect, a lot of £17 will go into an account by the time folks realise it is a scam. It's too good to be true.

Probably is but worth letting the credit card company take the risk

It's a well-engineered scam that uses copied (but genuine) tracking numbers which then show an item as having been delivered, just not to the buyer and not for a £17 heater.
DHgate then release the funds to the seller as they think the item has been received and won't take any action until after the 30 day delivery window, by which time the seller has dissapeared from DHgate.
Section 75 credit card protection only kicks in over £100.

The seller(s) listed hundreds of various items all at exactly the same price so was clearly a scammer, but even having this information didn't stop greed from taking over for 100s of members of the FB group, some of whom ordered 10 or more units. I haven't been following every post (and there are lots) but I don't think anyone has got their money back yet apart from those that came to their senses and managed to cancel the order prior to 'despatch'.

Going back on thread the Planar running curents seem higher than Eberspacher. Less problem for a Mobo or someone marina based, but bit of an issue for a sailing boat en passage. The sophisticated electronics of modern European control systems add to cost but may be significant in minimising operating load. So copies not always as good. Further Eberspacher for boats are meant to be salty atmosphere resistant and thus should last better, though that might only be the exhaust pipe. Still a leaky exhaust could kill you with CO so something more to check as your copy ages

My understanding is that these are not CE stamped, so you would not be able to fit as OEM to trucks cars or boats manufactured in the EU. Lack of the CE stamping means they can only be purchased online and they are despatched from China/Hong Kong even if the seller lists as a 'UK address'

After looking at this thread and then some ads for heaters this came up on my facebook feed, bit disturbing the way you get tracked. www.aclsretail.com/index.php
At this guys prices these must me Chinese heaters, he must be confident if making a business of fitting and giving a guarantee on them.

That's not the case, there are many Chinese sellers supplying from UK warehouses (to which they have previously imported them) using UK 2-3 day postal/courier services. Mine have been supplied that way.

That is interesting....
Can you remember who you have used ? says a man with a cold damp boat.

The current seller of choice seems to be blue005_de on Ebay who sends from Basildon using Royal Mail 48 (tracking number supplied).
I had one from him last week and it went smoothly. He's sold almost 400 of them.. Item no. 192596307855.

An earlier label on the box identified its journey into the UK as auto parts value $12 some weeks earlier.

'.

Barclaycard 'chargeback' covers purchases under £100, up to 120 days after the event

and of course, if it looks too good to be true it probably is...!

No German truck maker is going to fit cheap chinese tat like that.
I agree for the present, ... but the market has changed. In a few years, Planar or someone similar might be a possibility. Maybe a good Chinese copy will win.... maybe Eberspacher will have to sharpen up. The same comments hit Japanese motorbikes and Korean cars when first introduced.

Yes they do but they are often out of stock, some come from Portsmouth/Liverpool sellers on eBay, I took a risk and bought from China it was here within ten days.

I won't mention the seller as it might be seen as an advert.

To be honest it would cost me more money to service my Eberplutter than to buy a ChinaEber.

I've bought 2 more for spares or replacements.

Their are a lot of positive posts and YouTube videos online but a lot of 'yer but no but its chinese posts online'

Guess they have never seen one run, 4 people have seen my heater and have bought one in amazement.

I should keep quite:nonchalance:they might hike up the price....
