what's penzance wet dock like for visiting yacht. Is it crowded moored against the wall during the summer, is it practical for a 40 foot fin keel yacht 2m draught.

thoughts please. not too much detail in the reeds or wiley other than dredged to 4.5 metres

i liked Penzance although as stated it can be busy,we were rafted against a rather large landing craft and had to move on several occasions, but all in all id go back -no problem.while we were there we had thought of moving to Newlyn so as to escape the constraints of Penzance gate, but were advised by local people that we would probobly be better off staying put,the general opinion was that we would not be very happy in Newlyn due to having to constantly move for the fishing boats

Its very full of assorted craft, but if you want they will squeeze you in. Its a working dock and is very noisy and dirty. If its neaps you may be able to anchor outside of the local moorings within the harbour.
If you can take the bottom against a wall consider Mousehole or even anchor outside when conditions allow, its a much better option than Penzance IMHO

thanks all.. was hoping to stay a few days so i could visit st ives, mousehole and lands end (by land) praps a call first before we arrive would be advised.
