As the new owner of a Pegasus 700 I'm seeking more information about this boat;

1 - Outboard; I take it that she'll move with something like a 4 or 5? I have a Mercury 9.9 fitted and it seems rather large...

2 Spinnaker & pole; where can I get the sizes of these in order that I can get a spinnaker and pole ordered. (Masthead rig)

3 - Cooker; mine doesn't have any of the sliding galley, let alone a cooker. Does anyone have a drawing of the entire slide-out galley unit so I can make one out of marine ply and for an origo cooker?

Many thanks in advance

A 4hp or 5 hp will move her but maybe not reach full hull speed. The standard engine was I believe a 7.5 hp inboard . I'd want an 8 hp outboard minimum on a boat that size.

Spinnaker poles are typically about equal to the J measurement.
But your sail make should know the dimensions for the spinnaker, or will ask you for the measurements he needs. He will be able to advise on pole length too.

I believe there may be an owners association. Is so they will be a good source of information

Edit: Wrong there is no owners association

I had one of the last 700's ,sail No 202 with fractional rig and a lifting wing keel it was a kit boat that I built in 1993.
Regarding the outboard I had a 8hp two stroke , it was adequate for most conditions although at times a more powerful and quieter engine would of been nice .
The spinny pole was just long/short enough to dip pole jibe so you should be able to get a rough length by measuring between the pole Brkt on the mast and inside bottom of forestay .

The galley will be more difficult to help with , I don't remember there being a drawing , more like precut ply wood panels that were assembled and then adapted to the builders design , I customised mine with hardwood edgings , it did have the origo cooker though , I would suggest you find another 700 owner
And ask if you can photo / measure / copy the galley unit or you could just design your own galley unit .

For what it's worth they are great little boats and I still miss it .

Pegasus 700

1. Engine - My 700 has an 8hp Yamaha 2 stroke outboard and is used mainly on the Broads. This gives 3 knots at just above tickover and I rarely have to use more than 30% throttle even in strong tides such as those at Gt Yarmouth.
Incidently some time ago the designer, Gordon Harris,or Kevin his business partner told me that an 8hp outboard was too heavy (even as a 2 stroke) and upset the balance of the boat and that 6hp was more than adequate.
2. Don't know about spinnaker pole but Northern Rivers Cruising Club members should be able to help.
3. Cooker Box. This sketch I made when rebuilding my own cooker fitting may help
