Hi all,

Just about to chemically strip my topsides of its poor non slip ( Interdeck ) and was hoping some one may have personal experience of this product.

Its GRP safe and mave in 2 variants.

Any personal experiences would be gratefully received.

Thanks

John

peelaway experience

I have used peelaway successfully to remove approximately 4-5 layers of old antifouling some hard AF and some self-eroding (which hadn't eroded itself ;-) ).
It does remove AF very well and does not do any harm to the GRP - I left mine on overnight with some cling film covering it. Next mornin gI could peel away the doughy stuff easily with a broad putting knife.

Not sure how well it works on other paint, since you want to remove ordinary deck paint.

Fingers crossed

In my experience deck paint is extremely difficult and time consuming to remove with any of the gel-safe chemical strippers partly due to the fact that deck paints are designed to resist all sorts of chemicals and fuel spills. You may be better getting the sander out.

For information I ended up repainting with Kiwi grip and was very pleased with the results.

I've sanded deck paint successfuly with my random orbital sander. It's a 500W professional model which helps. It's a slow process but one gets there eventually.

I am doing the same thing. I have the molded in non-slip which has been painted several times with either real non slip paint or masonry paint. Some of the deck paint was flaking off and some is well stuck. I have got most of the paint off with a high power pressure washer. What remained I painted with Polycell Advanced stripper then either scrubbed with a wire brush or pressure washed it. Some paint is quite stubborn needing several applications of stripper. Some one has just given me some Strip Away which I plan to try in the next few days.
Some posters suggest sanding, if you have moulded in non slip areas on the deck this isn't really an option.
I think its a pig of a job however you do it.

Im doing the same job with Removall 620 and can confirm its B*****y hard work requiring overnight leaves adn 2/3 applications but it is do-able. Im taking most of it off (95%) and then sanding back with 40 or 80 grit.

I also have the problem of in deck non slip grit lines (Shedeck) which makes it even more fun!
