I hope the readers of this forum will forgive me for using it as a platform for promoting our 2008 Peel Trad Boat Weekend to be held over the weekend August 1st - 3rd.

The event has been running since 1991 with a short break to recharge batteries and to allow the government to install a flap for water retention.

As has always been the case this event is free to boats crews, the organisers being traditional boat people themselves.

The original idea of the event was for us Manx sailors to be able to return the hospitality shown by those from Northern Ireland etc and further afield who had entertained us at other events.

We will be holding a parade of sail to allow us all to show off our boats and we will have entertainment ashore. At present we hope to re-launch the 'quick and dirty boat building competition' and of course music will be heard throughout the town.

Sunday 3rd will also be Peel Carnival day so there will be even more to entertain visitors.

For more information or an entry form please contact me on mclark@manx.net or enter online at http://www.peelsailingclub.com/tradboat/

Hope to see you there

Mike Clark

Hi Mike. Won't be there either, this year - refit dragging on too long. However, if you cut and paste Cleone's picture from the "Let's see them" post here
and put it on a plank floating off the sea wall, I'll be there in spirit at least.
