Mrs. Seagoon and I went to Peel today to see the last day of the Peel Traditional Boat Festival '08. Bit of a photofest. The full set (good, bad & ugly) can be seen via picasa in bigger (1600) resolution. Probably best viewed in slideshow mode!

Walking back along the quayside to the car I looked down on to PL.5 "White Heather" and realised that the chap wearing the "He Who Must Be Obeyed" T-shirt was probably White Heather's owner, forumite Manx_Nobby, a.k.a Mike Clark, organiser of the festival - so I introduced myself. Mike kindly invited me aboard to have a look over his magnificent boat - built 1904 and in better condition than my GRP yacht! Thanks Mike, apologies for the intrusion but it was a pleasure to meet you and White Heather. If anyone wants full resolution versions they should email me (address in my profile) with the filename(s) of the picture(s) (visible via the "more info" link in Picasa) and I will reply with the 12 megapixel original(s).

This fishing boat was listing to port as it came in to view. Once moored the reason was obvious - 44 trays of crabs, almost all stacked against the port rail!

WOW - some fantastic photographs Neddie - a great reminder of a teriffic weekend, how blessed were we that the sun shone and we had a perfect breeze?

If any of you other readers fancy attending next year the date will be Aug 7th to the 9th, contact me and I will make sure you recieve our promotional material.

I have to correct one thing Neddie said though, I am not the organiser I am one of the team who organise the event, I can assure you that the event could not take place and remain free without a lot of effort from quite a large team.

Got to also say superb - lovely boats /weather /location - lucky you .... and thanks for taking the time to share the photos with us

Well back to watching the rain and imagining a few dry days to get some vanishing done on the cockpit !

I am so gutted that I wasn't able to go! But next year hopefully I'll be there!

And when did Vilma change colour?! I almost didn't recognise her! And Martin was there in Espanola. I'm very jealous. I shall be getting a report all about it from Catherine very soon no doubt, but I wish I'd been able to go.

Fingers crossed for next year!

Nice paint job in White Heather. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

You'll be there next year!! Your Mum and Dad will be for sure!!
Keep an eye open for Englander the following year!!

I must say Warren, Jill and Helen were sorely missed this year, the standards of mickey taking dropped considerably! Thanks for the paintwork comment H :-) was worth all the effort!

My best to W & J when you next speak to them.

Would be fabulous to see Englander again, I was last aboard in Portaferry marina I dont know how many years ago...

I thought you were heading to Corfu?! Make up your mind! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

And thank you, Mike. Nice to know we're good for something /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Mum and Dad are in Honfleurs at the moment, so they'll be in the Irish Sea fairly soon. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif I'm joining them in the second week of September, so we'll probably be visiting Peel this September. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
