Which way round do you wear your pear shaped anode?

Rounded part forward, pointy bit back, sort of like a plane wing, but does it really make a difference worth worrying about ? May be interesting ?

Yes me too but it seems that those that do it the other way are convinced they are correct from what I have seen big end first is obviously the most popular Mike

They last a lot longer if you paint them with antifoul

Consider the shape of fish or 'ballast bulbs' on keels - the fat bit is at the front

I wonder how fast you'd have to go for it to make a measurable difference? My guess is you'd want to change the design for something flush with the hull before it mattered which way round you put it.

I'm unconvinced of the benefits of a hull anode on a plastic boat. Shaft anodes, definitely, but I changed my hull anode because I thought it may be defective, as it was the best part of 10 years old and still pearshaped, and I'm wondering if I've wasted my money.

Depends what its been fitted to protect... possibly just back up for the shaft anode
What is it bonded to electrically ? Is it bonded to anything? If not it's a total waste of money

Probably doing nothing.
Wasting your money changing it if its not being consumed. Probably someone wasted their money fitting it in the first place.

If you have a good quality fixed blade manganese bronze prop even the shaft anode may not be necessary.
