After considerable research on the net, and many frustrating hours messing about with it, I've finally got my Dell Axim PDA to talk to a Sapphire GPS 'Mouse', and now have colour GPS mapping working via MS 'PocketStreets'.

However, I'm after a simple 'GPS Repeater' programme for it, so I can show the usual marine type data when on the boat (SOG and Long/Lat esp.)

I've tried a 'GPS Dash' demo, but it's got analogue dials. Looks pretty, but I'd prefer large digits. Anyone know where I can download?

Also, if you've come across any cheap and cheerful marine charting pda software, I'd appreciate the nod.

Mariner may be able to help. I know if you ask him he will send you some demos.

I have sailpalm on my handspring, which works OK. was free (though full version cost a few bucks.

I am awaiting the Garmin ique 3600 PDA, which has built in GPS and uses bluechart and mapsource data.

Apparently not at all waterproof, but you can get an external antenna and keep the device inside. Makes it nice and portable between cars and boat and so on and gives turn by turn driving directions so no more arguing with swmbo when I decide we need to take a shortcut.. *grin*
