Well it's that time of year again folks. September 11th will be the biggest racing event of the year in the Bristol Channel !
It's an event open to all (except mobos, unless they don't use their engines), free entry and prizes for first five boats, first three visitors, first gaff rigged boat and first team (3 boats)
All we ask is that you pre-register with Portishead Crusing Club preferably before the 6th September. Contact details are available on the PCC website www.portisheadcruisingclub.org.uk

The course is ............. Start line between Firefly and Portishead pier
North West Elbow to port
Flat Holm to port
Steep Holm to port
North West Elbow to starboard
Finish line is between PCC penant at Battery Point and Newcombe bouy

Lets see if we can make it a record number of entries this year ........... we must be able to get 60 + boats

The bottom line is it's a fun day out, suitable for all classes, types and configurations.

Ditto that.

I enjoyed it so much last year, I am crewing on what will be the winning yacht this year.:D

It is a great day's sailing and the presentation at the, very friendly, PCC is good humoured.

It's a running start, so you choose your start time to make the best use of the tide, to suit your yacht.

everyone has a fair crack at picking up the prizes, there was a whole load of different yachts picking up the trophies last year.:)

That would be a bit early for our friends from Hemel who are joining us. We got in the 13:00 so we should be ok. Don't usually like getting the last lock out with friends in case it's rough we can still get back in. Still forecast is not too bad so we should be fine

We will be way down the channel by then but if you are around when we get back, give me a shout.

I will be on "Sprout", it would be great to meet..:)

Sorry we missed you, the day turned out to be quite an adventure: had an engine failure very soon after exiting Portishead, last lock out too so we chugged to cardiff @ 9 knots :-(

Sorted the problem and then came back in the evening and had to q 3 locks to get back in! In fairness to Portishead they did turn the locks around as fast as they could.

Activesail (or any other forumites at Portishead) we are on B1, you have to walk past us if you are at the office end of the marina, say hello if we are on board!
