PBO forum Sailboat meet on the Solent?

A nice idea,

and I'm not far from you; I simply have to get my boat in the water first, like others I had to delay launching as the spring was so awful I wasn't able to get any work done.

It's usual for a meet to get together at East Cowes, Cohel of this parish has done the business inn the past. They did a deal last time as I recall.

I will come if possible.

We had a few boat owners and forum members that have boats around the Solent that saw us on Friday after the delivery and we ended up having a beer on a pub and the idea was floated to do a sail over to the Isle of Wight as no one did much sailing this spring. It would actually be interesting organising something like that with other forum members. East cows would be a nice place for that as well, especially with a discount.

Should've gone to Scotland. They had a brilliant summer that went on for nearly three weeks. Unfortunately autumn now appears to have arrived.

Well I'm hoping for some sailing weather during the summer. But having said that the Solent always allows for a bit of sailing, so any weekend in the summer would be a nice event having a bunch of us together.
So far, we have around 8 boats for a meet but it would be nice if everyone would post here so we can have an idea of how many and how we could organize it.

in Feb i had more than a jumper on :) but point taken it was quite nice sailing in Winter the only month i didn't go out was January.

i definitely prefer the summer though!

Yes, Feb on the water was brutal this year. Still fun as the solent was almost empty.. On the subject of the prospective meet, it should of course be fancy dress or at least have a dress code of pith helmet and goggles

Notwithstanding Greg's proposal, presumably the RTIR offers some chance of meeting too?
We'll be at East Cowes for the weekend.

God NO! I try to avoid the Solent whenever it's RTIR or Cowes Week. Too many lunatics trying to occupy the same bit of water......

Mind you Chi Harbour ought to be empty.......

I'm taking our comfy boat and racing on something less comfortable. Otherwise I would agree that it is worth avoiding.

Pending date i too could be up for this, if its anywhere near RTIR it would be worth avoiding the Island, Chi Hbr would be good alternative.

Sorry guys boat work got in the way of a fast answer.
I'll come up with a date in the coming week, but I'm aiming for the end of July and away from anything to do with LOADS of lunatics claiming that they were not even close to you as there was still at least an inch between boats.
