Pattern oil filters Volvo Penta/Man/Fischer Panda

I often have a problem obtaining filters both oil and fuel for my Volvo Penta main engine and Fischer Panda Gen. set and for the Racor pre filters. We move about a bit and what with the distances one has to travel on shore and the language difficulties. The prices are sometimes staggering. I have found an equivalent Man oil filter for the Gen. set if there are no Fischer Panda spares available. When I had a Gardener engine there were all sorts of truck filters I could purchase as alternatives. Naturally the manufacturers always want to sell you their original spare parts at often horrible prices. The equivalent Unipart filter for my Volvo Penta gearbox is a quarter of the price of the original Volvo Penta filter. Now my question. Has any one ever heard of a manual or data base of part numbers that could be cross referenced.

If you have the manufacturers number for your filter the factor will be able to cross reference it for you. They have most of the filter manufacturers brochures with equivalents! easiest is to ring them with the nimber and get the equivalent number an manufacturers number and then ask for that, where ever you are! Just a thought. you could even asj on here and Im sure someone would be able to sort it out on your behalf?

Good idea, and I think warrants a separate forum, if for no other reason than to avoid repeated posts "anyone know an equivalent for" ..... and I'm guilty of that also. Spent an hour the other day researching an equiv to F5TC spark-plug. Know the answer now, but not telling /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Google search with Cummins. that will get you a site that will match anything.

I must be missing something? ... Have explored Cummins website (the huge engine etc manufacturer?) but can't see any obvious listing of equivalents?? (filters, etc, etc). Do you have a more specific link please?

This site will give you the Fleetguard(very recently called Cummins) site for their part numbers for different engines. Filters available from motor factors that supply truck parts.

i have penta,s 2010 and live in greece , when i needed filters i tried a local car factors and without blinking , the oppo said "nissan , how many " its identical to volvo s and on the shelf ! 6 euros each my point is go to the motoring section first !

Volvo 2001 = Renault 5 filter = 6 euro. And yes they still make filters for the old 5!
