Probably the last of the small old DIY boatyards on the Mudway , where you wandered down to " The Pier" to locate the crane driver to discover when he might be free to lift your boat and if you were really lucky somebody else might be around to help get those heavy slings under your boat.
The site has now been sold for housing and all the "long term restoration projects" :ROFLMAO: have been given their marching orders, one or four will be heading directly for a skip.
Would not mind buying one of the houses but suspect well above my price bracket, the other problem is according to the plans the plots are only 35ft wide and ones money pit is 38ft. :(

My old man rescued one of those 'projects'. (A Hustler 25 - Richard Mathews old boat). I remember working on it with him. Among other things, the engine was seized, but he manged to get it working again. Performance under motor (it was a top under sail), when we put it in the water, was less than impressive. When we pulled it out we discovered the blades of the prop had fallen off!
The boat outlived him.

Is the mariners I think that's its name on the lower Rainham Rd still going. Back in the 80s I had a boat at Ron jarmans in conyer. Grumpy old sod . Unless you was handing him money.

I’d heard that several developers had looked at it but ground surveys were a problem, as in the whole place is sitting on not a lot above the Medway mud, therefore cheaply banging up a few new builds would be an issue.

Mariners Farm is still there, but the boat part now much reduced compared to the caravan part. Has been a good yard for me though. Very DIY. Still quite a few sad-looking long-term boats, though the owners have definitely cleared some no-hopers in the past year or two, but also quite a lot of well used and kept boats that are in and out on a regular basis.
