How do i get a patch that has been applied to my rubber dingey off,i need to stick a bigger one on,but i dont want to stick it over the existing one.

leave it in a cockpit locker under all the mooring ropes, kedge anchor and stuff and do not use for 6 months,. then when you get it out to use you should find all the patches you put on will fall straight off..... or is that just me?

good luck! try picking at em'

Its been in my garage for over a year and i bodged the repair by sticking a smallish patch on a small gash from a pebble when i launched from a beach for the first time, the patch sticks like sXXX to a blanket.and its still leaking slightly.

seriously i found with mine (as old as the hills dunlop) the repairs made eventually come off if the fabric flexes enough. If it is just a titchy leak still have you tried just building the edge of the patch up a little with rubber glue gunk? (the stuff in the tube!)

good luck

[/ QUOTE ] You don't say what material your dinghy is made of. If it is Hypalon and you have stuck the patch on with a suitable adhesive then heating it gently will soften the adhesive and you can peel the old patch off. Use a hot air gun cautiously or maybe a powerful hair dryer. I'm sorry I cant give you any guidance on how warm it has to be. I've seen it done but not done it myself.

If it's PVC then and you have used the proper adhesive for PVC then you probably can't get it off as the adhesive contains a solvent for PVC. Warming may get it off if you have have not used the correct adhesive but the PVC will not stand anything like the temperature that Hypalon will, it'll melt!
