Hello to all
I have never posted on these forums before but do look in now and again, being a "ditch crawler", I noticed you have this Thames forum and it is with great sadness I would like to inform anyone who knew my brother Brian Williams who for several years until his retirement at 75 some 2 years or so ago was a part time keeper at Teddington, finally gave up his fight against the brain tumor on Sunday 17th.
It was with great pleasure that I visited Teddington lock with him 3months ago when he was having a good few months after the tumor had been removed in January and before it returned. He spoke with the two ex-collegues on duty and and was thrilled when the two boats in the smaller lock called to him by name and they where regular's he knew well, that was the last time he visited the lock but I know he loved his time there.
Others in the London area may recall him as manager of the Guildford Boathouse about 20 years ago where he turned one of the trip boats into there restauraunt boat, after which he managed the Star and Garter Home for disabled serevice men. All this after 30 years in the army having joined at 15 1/2.
Funeral 3am Mortlake crem'
A big brother sadly missed
