Got to deliver a new 39' sports cruiser up to the Isle of Man shortly and being the lazy so and so that I am wonder if anyone has done this trip before and kept their passage plan / waypoints / stops / bunker etc.

Cruise 26knts, range 220 nm with 20% reserve.

Bit cheeky I know but dashing all over the gaff at the mo, will of course do the seamanship thingy and check all the stats before the off (just in case anyone pulls a fast one and sends me froggy land instead).

Also what is the berthing like this time of year south coast for stop offs, does one need to book in advance or just rock up.

Thanks

Done both, Quite a few times, but not all at once. If you see what I mean.

From Hamble to Penzance or Newlyn is easy. Just a question of where you want to stop and how much you want to spend on juice. Plymouth Yacht Haven is reasonable. Prob Fuel barge Falmouth cheaper. Newlyn better than Penzance in that theres cheap fuel by tanker and no lock. So in and out any time. But grotty. Then you have a choice. Padstow diesel, you can pick up a buoy or go behind the gates on the tide. Padstow only faverable dependant on wind. Ok in normal stuff with tide. Bar. Then Milford Haven. Now the next little bit. I've never done. But you have to get yourself round to either Fishguard, Pwethelli or Holly Head. There are other places, but all tidal. Def Fuel at Pwethelli (sp) and Holly Head but I got it from the ship fueling place last time I was there 12.5p a gallon Hmm! Only about 35 miles to IOM. Duglass I pressume. Theres now a sill into the marina. But there will be some where to moor outside. It's changed a bit since last there.

Should not need to book anywhere. I never have.

Apart from Lyme bay 50 miles. You can stop and get fuel about every 20 miles. Just more expencive some places. Salcolmbe is a good stop over spot. Expencive fuel. No marina. Depends what you want.

Info on south coast, uptodate. Do the whole lot of it three or four times a year. Fuel YH Plymouth about 46p the other week. Falmouth fuel barge cash is best. Newlyn park with fishy boats and look for tanker, always around. Then move before you get squashed!! Theres a Yacht haven marina in Milford Haven with fuel Ahh Neylin. Hm I think. PM me for more.

Depends alot on how fast you want to do it and how much you trust your range. I can fill you in on just where to get fuel if you give me some sort of clue.

Wow, thanks Haydn, great info, right I'll get me chart out and start drawing some squiggly lines and see what's the best plan. Got to get her to IOM fairly quickly, client won't want me racking up the expenses too much, says we have to sleep off the boat as they want to be the first to use everything, furry nuff suppose!.

Just off to Spain in the morning to commission a 45 but back Wednesday and shall PM you with the rough plan see what you think.

Many thanks again...your the Man !!!!
