Could anyone with local knowledge assist please.
Navionics wants to send us outside the wind farms but it looks to me that there is a safe passage inside them. Are there any particular hazards I need to look out for? This is my first trip northwards from the Humber. We are a 32 ft yacht drawing 1.5 m and are intending to overnight in Bridlington this weekend.Just of springs. I’ve never been into Brid before. Is it straight forward?
Any local knowledge tips appreciated, Thanks.

I don't know those waters but looking at the chart there is ample 'room' to go inshore of the Humber and Westermost Rough Wind Farms. There are overfalls to the west of the Westermost WF but there seems plenty of water inshore to stay to the west (inshore) those overfalls.

Don’t try and cut corner too close to Spurn, fast flow and standing waves at Binks, most go outside chequer shoal then skirt edge of farms

Brid. does indeed dry. You can anchor off in offshore winds. At sufficient tide call HM and he will find you a drying pontoon berth, if available, or put you alongside the wall. Washroom facilities a bit basic but adequate.

Thanks Dave but skirt which edge? Can I turn north at Racon m ( Spurn) and cut inside Humber Gateway or is it best to go outside both wind farms bearing in mind the overalls West of Westermost Rough?

Turn north at chequer shoal, no need to go as far as Spurn, then keep west of farms.its a long way out to go outside and then back in. The problem as always is time to leave Grimsby to keep tide in favour going up

On springs the flood gate at Grimsby may be closed at high water if the tide is above a certain level (not sure that that levels is) . You can pen out but you have to pay a tenner while there is no charge on free flow.

I had forgotten to check last week and the gate being closed delayed our leaving Grimsby . Not such a problem for us as we had plenty of time for our journey to Hull.
Gates open for free flow at Grimsby at 2 hrs before HW . I would suggest going then but then again I am not bothered by a couple of knots of tide. Call Fish dock on ch74 to get a more precise time on the day.
I have not turned North out of the Humber but keeping clear of the wind farms and avoidance of area marked over falls are advice I have seen before. Crossing shipping lanes will also not be well received.
VTS should be happy to hear from you as you enter the Humber and as you leave Grimsby . They like to hear your destination and number of persons on board.
AIS is valuable tool as you are almost certain to encounter large ships and commercial vessels.

When I did my last round Uk the HM at Bridlington told me that I could not stay because there were very few visitors moorings & some so called " visitors" had left their boats & squatted on the moorings & could not be contacted so there were no spaces.
As I moved south Humber VTS made me alter my course & cross the shipping lane further east rather than cut the corner. Plus they advised that there was shallow water nearer Spurn head & that I should not cut the corner anyway.
It put quite a few miles on my trip. I was transmitting on AIS at night & they did follow me, because they advised a couple of ships of my presence as they moved into the estuary & past Bull fort. Re assuring in a way.
