We plan move our base from Burriana (40nm north of Valencia) to Torrevieja ( south of Alicante) next spring.
Our group is debating plans! Its 160 miles and my idea ( weather permitting) would be a simple 2 nigthter
departing at 0800 and arriving in the evening 2 days later, This allows start and finish in daylight and an average speed of under 3 knots
implying that we could sail easily ( weather permitting of course). That's in our 10m Neptunian ketch
Our charts show no particular hazards so I guess fishing boats and ferries are things to watch out for.
Can anyone add to this basic plan?

I’ve been back and forth from Valencia a few times takes me 30 hours. There is an island with rocks north of torrevieja. I forget its name but you can go inside it I however always go outside. There is an east cardinal that can be tricky to spot at night.

The island would be Tabarca, you can go inside it. The reserve there is marked by buoys which can sneak up on you a bit.
The main hazards are the shipping lanes off Cabo La Nao and the fish farms south of Santa Pola which don't always resemble the charts.
Denia would make a good stop over, easy access and the town has everything you might need.

With your plan, if you did more than 3 knots you would arrive in darkness, but Torrevieja is easy to enter and well lit. You can actually anchor inside the humongous breakwater.

Done this route lots of times no bother at all ive done it before in one go and in small hops. I prefer the small hops as you get to see more. It really is an easy journey no real tides to bother with.
