Passage enquiry Aruba to bvi

I would expect a ROUGH ride close hauled in 20 Kt trade winds. Nearly 500 miles of close hauled sailing??? You maso???

Go for it but it will be tough. GL:D

If need need a break and stop in Sint Maarten, I'll buy you a beer. Am anchored in the lagoon, closest catamaran to Port de Plaisance (however you spell it)

We've done Curacao to the BVI successfully and Bonaire to the BVI but ended up in Puerto Rico after crossing 68W three times and making little progress. It's a long hard slog upwind, upcurrent. If there are big swells it's even worse. There is an option. Go Curacao, Bonaire, then along the Venezuelan out islands, then turn NE to go to the BVI. Don't stop in Margerita and don't hop the Venezuelan coast, too dangerous. Good luck!

aruba to bvi

It is a hard slog. I have not done it but have sailed the Caribbean for years.

We used to stay at anchor off Simpson Bay SXM. Got up one morning to find a tiny German boat anchored beside me and flying Q. Spoke to the guy who said something about 45 days Aruba to SXM. And then he added, I needed the time to write some new songs. He sang a week later at Shrimpies (now gone) and I'd say he spent the time well.

It all depends on why you are out there!

Please report back, too.

Not a good plan me thinks now, decided to go to columbia, panama and sail up the central american coast to the Rio Dulce and overwinter there for £ 40 a week.
