Just out of curiosity I’m wondering if there’s anybody here who knows of the whereabouts/state of the three masted schooner ‘Pascal Flores’. Last time I saw her was about ten years ago in Milford Haven, she was in a pretty sorry state and looking like she’d seen better days!

If my memory serves me right, she’s was built in Spain and also starred in the Onedin Line as the ‘Charlotte Rhodes’. I’ve gone the Google root to no avail and would be fascinated to hear what’s become of her, as she was/is a fine vessel…

Pascual Flores was rescued and taken on a heavy lift ship back to her home port of Torrevieja in Spain, where she is being restored.
Charlotte Rhodes was a different vessel, a 3-masted baltic trader (one of the rare ones with an English-style counter). She was the unfortunate victim of an insurance scam by her owners in the late 70s, and was burned to the waterline. Gits.

Ships almost always appeared in the Onedin Line under their own names. I always remember them meeting a schooner "off the mouth of the Amazon" (halfway up the Dart in reality). The name of the ship? Sir Winston Churchill. Even as a 10 year old schoolboy, I knew there might be a bit of chronology problem there....

Try googling Pascual Flores (note spelling) she's still in Torrevieja where she was built but I think someone on the council had his/her fingers in the pie and it's on hold at present. You can just make out on google earth - she's in big shed next to the salt jetty. Also google english speaking newspapers in T/vieja and search there are quite a few articles about her. I went to see her 3 years ago whilst staying in Alicante - brought back fond memories - I helped bring her back from Ibiza in the early '70s

I didn,t know the C R had been destroyed, I worked on her when she was in Mashfords in the early 70s. Very sad she was a nice ship.

Amazing the difference a ‘U’ can make! Great news that she’s been rescued, not so great they’ve run out of cash…I’ve just had a look at the Pascual Flores blog and she’s looking pretty good, though it looks like there’s not much original timber left in her now!
