I've just realised that I was fitting the square cross section seal to the wrong end!
However, that's how the old one came off. Not fitted by me I hasten to add.
The university of YouTube came to the rescue.
I'll leave the post up, dispite the embarrasment, in case any else make the same miskake.
I'm replacing one of the fuel filters on boat
It's a Parker Racor dual filter.
I got the old filter off no problem.
However, I'm struggling to fit the new one.
There's a seal between the filter and the aluminium Base. It's square in cross section, and is designed to fit into the grove machined into the aluminium Base.
It's too wide! ie the ID of seal seems too small.
I've tried pushing at all angles to try an get it started, without success.
Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
