I always go (though foreign passports no longer ensure free entrance and parking
is impossible).
Saturday sees the start of the Route du Cafe (Transat Jacques Fabre) from Le
Havre to Bahia (Brazil): monohulls take the direct route, multis have to leave
Ascension Island to starboard. This is the same fleet (renewed) as was very
badly mauled in the 2002 Route du Rhum. Mike Birch is back in a 60 ft mono (you
give me reason to live...). Crews are two-handed.

For 10 years, as a foreign correspondent to a French Minister, I had, as for living in France for the past 20+ years many reasons to visit the prestigious Salon Nautique de Paris. Last year I visted the ILBS - sorry but if that was meant to be the BIG one prior to the new venue for January 2004, it was a waste of time.
Paris, yes, for many, it would be necessary to understand the language, but don't let that put you off, as most international venues are biligual, as English as the 2nd language.
I haven't been to the ILBS for many years. When I did go it was in the hope of seeing the low output high quality yachts.
Incidentally I had a look at your boat on your site and I remember having seen it in port (Lorient ?) and having been very impressed by its obvious sea worthiness and especially its weather protection an aspect which I find is totally ignored by so many builders. Would like to learn more about its design, layout, builders architects etc.
Sorry to hear about the trouble you had and hope this is being sorted.
