Paraffin Tank for Taylor\'s Cooker

My paraffin tank for my Taylor's cooker has a developed a leak. Can it be mended? If so how? It is an old one probably about 28 years old. It doesn't have the pump in the tank - that is separate. I am hoping to be able to mend it - but if not ,any suggestions where I can get a new one without integral pump. All the new taylor's tanks have the pump integrated into the tank - which is likely to be expensive to replace.
Thanks

If the tank is brass it can be soft soldered. You'd probably have to use an iron with a large bit - I think they're called hatchet irons. I'm talking about the non-electric type here, ie the ones you heat up on a gas ring. A normal electric iron won't produce enough heat.
If the tank is stainless it's a bit more difficult. I've not done a tank, but I repaired a leaking stainless Russell Hobs kettle by bronze welding with an oxy-acetylene torch, using ordinary brazing rod and Sif-bronze flux.
I don't think I would be too worried about brazing up a paraffin tank, as long as it's been thoroughly washed out. I'm not brave enough to even think about mending a petrol tank though as I'm quite fond of my eyebrows and I'd like my head to remain attached to my shoulders as well.

I suggest you look up your local Yellow Pages, etc.
I had a s/s tank Taylors paraffin tank leak at a seam weld about fifteen years ago after being seriously over-pressured.
On a small industrial estate, I found a small firm specialising in welding stainless steel equipment for the food-processing and dairy industry. They made a very neat weld which has since been in routine service without any problem.
