Pantaenius no longer insuring vessels worth <£80,000? True?

A cruising friend has posted that he was declined a renewal from Pantaenius as they are no longer insuring vessels worth <£80,000....

Has anyone else heard this? I guess Y will be busy soon!

They are not the first to put a lower limit on the value of vessels.

I'm insured with pantaenius for <£80k. Renewal was back in March but they recently quoted me for revised cruising area covering the caribbean. Can't see why they'd arbitrarily stop the process of I-give-them-money-and-never-make-a-claim which has been going on for the past 7 years..

I insure with them so got in touch.

It is to do with underwriting guidelines for blue water extended cover only. It may affect you if you intend to go transatlantic in a cheaper boat.
