GlobalTrack have been kind enough to upgrade my tracking unit too one with a panic button. If the button is pressed, the unit will send an SMS to specified mobile number/s and/or email addresses.

It works something like this. Press the button and the unit sends a message every 5 minutes for 30 minutes unless the unit is switched off or loses power.

So let's say, just for instance, that Para gets a little miffed and takes a large swallow of Scotland's finest and decides that pressing the panic button would be good humour. How do we then notify the recipients of the panic message that Para wasn't to be taken seriously on this particular occasion? Secondly, how do we know that Para actually pressed the button and therefore, we need to notify Falmouth CG that they don't need to deploy the Royal Navy, which of course, the recipient of the panic message has asked Flamouth CG ever so nicely to do?

If we're sailing along on a broad reach in 18 knots, the sun is shining and we've got Bob Marley playing over the deck speakers, have we got a Don't Panic button as well?

Not a problem - this government has trimmed or should it be slashed the Navy so much that the likelyhood of one being available is so remote that it is an insignificant risk.
