Hi anyone got knowledge of a Wellcraft 218 Coastal, which is an American sports fishing boat, about 23ft long 8ft 4" beam, walkaround decks small cuddy, 200hp Mercury outboard about 1996.
Any idea on price and what they are like re seakeeping etc. Thanks Clive

Bit of a rare bird this one Clive but Wellcraft are well made and sea-keeping (coastal) is good. They are known to be robust and are usually sold as a package, boat / engine (Johnson or Merc) / trailer. I think the actual length is nearer 21 - 22ft.

Price?? £11-13K? (in good nick)

Hi yes they reckon 48mph with a 200hp outboard I would'nt be suprised.

Whisper mentions deep V hull, though its pretty beamy (8ft 4") for a 23ft boat.

Thanks everyone for your help. Sea trialing today so will let you know if I buy it.

Should you buy it, please could you share your thoughts and experiences as I am considering purchasing similar as a trailboat for exploring the wilds of Canada.

Well brought her round by sea from Estepona yesterday, first impressions seem fine, nice safe walkaround decks, good vision from the helm, sea state not too testing. Outboat and steering needs service.
Will be using her for Power Boat course and pleasure, i.e. fishing etc. Will let the panel know how she performs.
