hi all

This winter I plan to put my fisher 25 undercover and paint the topsides using International Perfection.

The topsides were painted 10 years ago by the previous owner and need doing again.

Does anyone have any good tips?

First check what the current paint is. Perfection is a 2 pack and cannot be used over a single pack. Second, follow the manufacturers instructions and if you want detailed advice on the specific product call their technical department. Third preparation is the key to a good finish. Final application is the quick part of the job.

You may find it worth getting the reprints of the series of PBO articles on painting related to their project boat - originally published a couple of years ago.

Watch these videos:

Related to painting a steel narrowboat, but many of the techniques and tools will transfer. I discovered Mirka Mirlon sanding pads and used them in anger a couple of days ago - excellent.

If you dont think steel boat techniques are appropriate, there will probably be videos by experts who paint GRP boats etc..
