I have a bronze folding prop, which I paint with International MPX/Trilux. I had a bad experience in the past when leaving the prop bare, all the anodes went and half of the saildrive leg too Ooooops.

This year I will be painting the prop again with Trilux as it seems to solve the problem. I've always etched it first before applying the trilux don't know really if I need to any thoughts.

The trilux tin say's etch for lead and ally, steel and iron to use primocon, but no mention of Bronze.

TIA

I have been using Trilux on a bronze prop with only partial success. The paint stops fouling but I can't get it to stay on the prop. Tried with and without Primocon and not much difference. It always seems to chip and flake off near the tips and leading edges. Did you use etch primer as for aluminium? Did that keep the paint on?

Yup using etch primer as per aluminium. seems to allow the trilux to key well to the prop. When lifted last week (been in for 8 months) the only pitting of the paint was at the blade tips.

Not painting will definitely not affect your anodes, I would investigate other areas for the anode problem, like wrong anodes, not linked to leg or an electrical leak, before painting.
