Hi
I've just bought a ten foot fibreglass tender, as it is looks rather tatty I want to give it a coat of paint just to get me through this season, and do a proper job doing it up next winter, as i have half full tins of paint in the garage I would like to use some up, does anyone know if there is anything I must not use on fibreglass, apart from a blow lamp?
thanks KW

To be honest I wouldn't bother. If you are going to do it properly next season, anything you put on now will have to come off again. All you'll be doing is making more work for yourself when you do the prep work next year. One year old paint will often be a lot harder to remove than an old paint surface.

In answer to your question though: paint stripper, unless it is one designed specially for fibreglass.

And in answer to your original question...........you can't use the household paintstrippers; they soften the gelcoat and you end up stripping that as well as any paint. Use a specific GRP stripper such as Dilunett. However, I tend to agree with Joe Cole; leave it for now ...old scruffy tenders have much more cachet!
