Greetings everybody,

I would like to paint the name of my boat onto the Avon inflatable, any advise as to the best type/make of paint to use.

I have thought about vinyl letters but they are unlikely to stay on ??

Many thanks for all replies

I've used this on mine. Make sure the Area is well degreased with something like isopropanol and it'll last for ages. Lot cheaper than the kits sold in chandlers. I made letter templates on sticky paper on my PC at home, drew round them and then painted them.

Top Tip;

get a girlfriend who's a talented artist with good handwriting / calligraphy to do it with a permanent magic marker.

If such a person should not be immediately available, St Ives, Cornwall should provide the answer. :)

Your Avon is presumably made of Hypalon , not PVC.

A different paint is required for Hypalon

Paints for both PVC and Hypalon inflatables can obtained from Polymarine

Paints for Hypalon

Paints for PVC

Polymarine used also to supply stencils but now recommend Funky Monkey for stencils.
Funky Monkey also supply the Polymarine ranges of paints.

If it's identity to try and prevent theft I would do more.
On the wooden transom of my inflatable I hole sawed 2 x 50mm holes fairly high in the transom to make it stand out from the crowd. These serve as good eye fairleads too.
Problem is if everyone does it then it wont stand out from the crowd...:(

I also wrote in approx 60mm capitals the name in black permanent marker as artistically as poss, on the bow/side tubes and transom.
Not perfect but practical.
