Painting boat name

I am about to repaint the name on the boat, but is there anything else that should be on there? I have some vague recollection about the port of origin needing to be on it as well.

If you're Part One registered, then you need the name and the port of registry. If you're Part Three registered, then you need your SSR number but all else is optional. If not registered at all, you can paint whatever you like

No. Only necessary if you visit another country. Only requirement then is to evidence the state under whose regulations the boat operates. Registration is the usual way of doing this.

Only if the boat is over 24 meters length - ie you could have this - http://www.oystermarine.com/images/bnr/725/725-sail-trial.jpg and not register it as long as you stay in UK waters.

Despite being part 1 registered for over 70 years our boat has never had the port displayed on the hull. I think they might care a bit more if the boat is used commercially though.
