My vinyl boat hood is bit ropey it doesn't leak but is badly faded. Has anyone ever tried painting one to tidy it up? I have been told about dinghy paint, any other products to try?

I'm assuming it's a sprayhood, or one of those tent-like constructions you see on the back of small motorboats. Though of course both of those are usually acrylic canvas rather than vinyl.

If its a standard spray hood we improved our old faded one with this stuff http://www.renovointernational.com/products/reviver.php Gave us a couple of seasons until we decided to try and make a new one 
Ours was red and it worked very well although we did use a couple of bottles.

I take it that it is the hood of a river cruiser.
May be, provided it is vinyl, the paint sold for PVC inflatable dinghies would do the trick although I think its expensive. Check it out on Polymarine's website

Yes sorry it's a river cruiser. It's a vinyl as opposed to sunbrella, the sun has faded it badly and I don't won't a new one when this ones not leaking.
