Instead of racing all the time would it spice things up a bit to re-live sailing fighting skills ?

I think many of us enjoy the historical novels displaying the skills and tactics employed and I would very much enjoy splattering certain individuals and their boats.

Re: rules of engagement

Unfortunately, minor skirmishes of your boat against another won't work - because each person entirely copmmands their own boat and will clear off.

So, for realism, you'll need to charter a large number of boats. I don't know how many sunsail have inportsmouth, but it's quite a few. Rent half their fleet, and somebody else rents the other half. You'll each use your chosen vhf channel. As admiral, you will then be able to take command in correct fashion, with everyone acting on your command.

One other issue is the weedy range of paintball devices, which needs to be at least 500 yards, preferably 1000 yards.

Vic, this definately has merit! but I'm afraid that my skippers skills will probablely lead to my early demise. In that case can I request that as I roll over and head for Davy Jones's locker, you re-load with antifouling so that I may go down "cleanly"<s>

Reminds me of model boat days some years ago. Two games we used to play.

1
A number of balloons would be anchored around the pond and each boat would stick a pin on the bow of their boat. The boat that popped the most balloons won. An alternative would be to see how many nav buoys we could sink with our spinnaker poles...

2
A lot of the model Navy boats had operational guns on them, fired with little tom-thumb crackers (Fireworks). We tested one set-up in our garage, fired a pin the length of the garage and reliably managed to get it to impale the garage door. I'm sure that bigger cannons could be made to fire 6" nails. That would sort the men from the boys/buoys....

Cheers

I can see this working well with dinghies... but who wants to play close quarter batytle games with £100k boats? I think there might be something in the insurance about it too.... *g*

Right, that sounds very jolly. So whats the crack. Suppose it's down to B&Q for some five litre tins of dulux and just lob them off the fly bridge at 20 knots!! Or those giant 20 litre buckets should do a good job, lid off first and then just chuck the whole lot over them. I feel a bit like Nelson now. Re-enacting the battle of Trafalgar. If it gets really nasty, could chuck a few tins of that vandle proof paint stuff, that should be a laugh. Come to think of it. I've got some antifouling left on the boat, that I could practice with!!

No one can force me to come here-----------

Why worry about who's playing, just drive around and shoot everyone you see with sails.
