What would you says the best for inside the yacht, varnished/oiled wood or white paint[which makes it seem larger inside]...your thoughts?

White will make it look/feel bigger but lose the character...go for oil or varnish and use very light coloured upholstery, curtains etc or do a mixture of both. maybe white ceiling and sides?

Any good quality paint will outlast and outperform any varnish, however it will not look timber.

But it will make the interior lighter, easier to clean, harder to damage and a lot less maintenance, meaning more time to sail.

But it is your choice after all.

I agree with the above. We have white on large surfaces, varnish on trim, grab handles etc. And an oiled wood floor, courtesy of the 1GM. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I don't use gloss as it shows all the imperfections up. I mix about 20% undercoat in with some gloss to flatten it off, and a bit of cream or magnolia to take the whiteness out as well. Up to you of course /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
