i will be removing the windows and windscreen from my boat for re-painting.
The frames were originaly anodised, but were later painted satin black as the anodising was wearing a bit thin.
I want to get the painting carried out professionaly this time using either a powder coat or a two pack polyurethane.

Can anyone recomend a company that can carry out this work, and would powder coat or two pack polyurethane be suitable.

I have investigated using car body repair companies but they are not interested in the work.

if you don't get what you want here, you might try contacting PBO for in June 2005 #462 issue on P130 there is a DIY Practical Project by Chris Elsworth who has done just what you are planning and mentions in his article that "I found a local firm to powder coat the portlights...."

PBO, in the past, have always passed on letters for me addressed to authors of articles, they will surely do the same for you

I recently removed, repaired & painted one of the (very old) ally windows & used silver Hammerite. It was easy to apply & seems to be doing a good job. It also matches the remainder of the ally bits on the boat, so don't stand out like a sore whotsit.

I've not had good experiences from powder coating even though it should be the better of the two paint systems. It's always come out too thick and flakes off easily when too thick. However I'd go for anodizing every time if I could.

Regards

Richard.
