I just got hold of a Mitchell sea angler 23, its not seen the water for 10 years but its been well looked after. I have started on the wooden trim and a have scratched some of the paint, it is faded and peeling in places so ideally needs redone. As much as I'd like to strip the old layers off, prime it and paint it that will have to wait for a year or 2. Just trying to find a decent hard wearing paint for the mean time. 2pac seems the best choice but most say they can't go on top of single pac and I'm insure what is on it now. There's so many choices I don't know where to start.
Also will using nitromors or paint stripper damage gellcoat or grp?

The delay in showing is because you are a new user - welcome.

Plenty of information on painting on the websites of manufacturers. You are right about 2 pack. Need to strip and start again to use it. Good series of articles currently running in PBO on doing the job.

In the meantime, clean, rub down, undercoat and a single coat of International Toplac or Hempels equivalent will smarten it up. Stripping back to bare gel coat is a massive job and you may well find that it is not worth it. Toplac or similar will last up to 5 years and looks quite reasonable.

cheers I was looking at toplac or hempel gloss, and helpel deck paint for the cab and deck.

As long as I can get a couple of years out it then il concider a strip down and proper spray job. The paint just now has signs of brush marks so il rub down what I can and give it a shot
