Packing size for stern gland

Morning All

Does anyone know the size of the stuffing i need for my Eysian 27 , i need to repack the stern gland box and do not know the width of rope ?

Measure the clearance between shaft and housing, two or three positions in case of asymmetry. Then add 1 or 2 mm, that's your dimension. When you come to fit it hammer it lightly to flatten slightly to fit.

Pull the stuffer back and use twist drills in the gap to gauge the size?

IF the shaft is 25 mm dia then the stuffing will be 6 mm (1/4")
