I'm sure most people have heard abot this, but I didn't realise a sailor was trying to do something about it.

(I have only just found the link and not read a lot of it, so don't know exactly what he is doing as yet; just thought I'd mention it incase it was of interest.)

Seriously, though, this has to be more serious than global warming and no-one can dispute it's man-made. Why isn't it more well known? Unlike global warming, we can do something about this, if the will is there.

And what you can't see is even worse than the huge, huge amount you can see.

That is: the chemicals dissipating into the sea (and therefore food chain, rain etc) are / can cause infertility, cancer, etc etc. Everyone has heard of PCBs.

Yes, we are killing the home we live in / on and therefore killing ourselves descendants.

And I am not a green freak (always thought recycling was not worth it and so forth- though after seeing this I may become one.)

You don't have to go tothe Pacific to see it. Just go to any deserted beach on the Scottish West coast that's open to the SW and see what's been washed up.
