Decision time is approaching on many things regarding our new P67 and choice of tender is one of them. Those awfully nice folks at Princess Motor Yacht Sales have included a free Avon Jet Rib in the deal, which is nice, but it may not be the best choice and I'm considering alternatives.

Useage - UK, certainly until next year, maybe longer. After that could be Antibes or Palma. Based in Torquay tender will be used for usual ferrying back and to in places like Salcombe, Dartmouth, Fowey, Channel Isles etc as well as generally blatting about. Needs to be quick and accomodate my Herculian 6ft7in frame /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif Tender to be located on rear of flybridge with crane fitted under radar arch. Tender forward edge would actually lie just under the arch and not appear to overlay it as in photos.

Options - Avon SE 320 Jet, Avon SE 360 Seasport Deluxe (but see detail below) and Avon A400 Adventure.

p67.jpg

Avon SE 320 Jet - Bags of fun, lots of legroom and could seat 4 people. However, jet propulsion would be totally pants for tender duties with a strong tide running and people do have a habit of nicking them. Still, nice and compact and would fit on flybridge a dream.

p67_320.jpg

Avon SE 360 Seasport Deluxe - Actually this isn't an option at all, but it would be if I could fit my bleedin legs behind the steering console. Clearly Avon design helm positions for Italians. But it's here because 3.6m is a good size - a nice increase over the little jet, and fitted with a 40HP outboard will do 42mph according to the manufacturers. Outboard power will of course make it much more useable when the tides running. But, I don't fit and I canj't find a similar RIB anywhere else. Any suggestions?

p67_360.jpg

Avon A400 Adventure - A bit big really, or is it? It'll certainly go on and the crane will take it. All the benefits of the 360 and will hit 40mph with a 50HP motor. Can be fitted with 2 bench seats and console could be fitted in any reasonable position. Not sure how much the outbard would stick out though (long shaft). Certainly the ends of the A400 would stick out a little wider than the radar arch, but nowhere near as wide as the P67's "ears". Would certainly be a bit more practical for blatting about in moderate seas than the Jet.

Here's some pix of the P67 fitted with a 320 Jet that give a better idea of the layout.

Personally I think you should fit a sooper dooper Chriscraft launch and give the jet rib to me to look after /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Seriously though, it seems that you've decided that in life generally big is good, so go for the big one and then you won't always be thinking what if! BTW, the boat looks fab, can't wait to hear your early reports once she's in the water.

Personally I would go for the 400 l's and given that you still have plenty of width on the f/b - no problems. However, will tilting the o/b still be possible? - probably....... and then you may be able to slew the o/b whilst tilted. A boat like this will benefit from the bigger runaround - especially at those occasions when you have more people than normal on board?? Lovely pics, lovely boat and wish I had one too.

Not sure you need to worry about the jet rib in a tide, you soon get used to the steering. That said, I'd still far sooner have an outboard cos the prop is in the water the whole time so you don't get the screaming and pitching every time you take off on a small wavelet on a jet rib.

If you're concerned about leg room, why not order a 3.6 or 4m RIB with a centre console - loads of room and much more comfortable at speed in a chop cos you can stand up. Go for the biggest outboard the RIB will take, makes it more useable for towing skiers, inflatables etc.

Magnum there are some new jetribs coming out. Avon are replacing the 320 jet with a more powerful (hehe) 4 stroke version, and it might be a bit bigger than 320, but not sure when - dealers have siad end of 05 so mebbe too late for you?

And I though Williams were sposed to be doing a bigger jetrib this summer, or did I imagine that?

Howsabout the Zodiac seasport jetrib (340 I think). More legroom that Avon 320, and 6inch more beam. Same yam 2stroke motor

Then there are the eyetie jetribs like nouvrania or whatever

I agree the comment that jet motor is fine in a tide etc. the main issue here is you fitting in it. I'd much prefer to be craning up a jet (especially in a swell) than an outboard boat with sharp bits protruding, esp when the motor is tilted up

You don't want any advice; you just want to show off, and I don't blame you. The boat looks superb.

On another tack you mentioned cruising to Fowey. I have visited here many times and always tie up in Pont Pill fore and aft. Where will you moor a 67ft boat in Fowey.

I am taking delivery of a 53ft for this season and was assume Pont Pill is no longer available

Re: Zodiac

Hmm, forgot about that option. It would fit.

In fact I had a close look at one at SBS.

No Hypalon construction though and it's still a Jet, although there is enough room for me pins and it has a neutral.

Definately a possibility.

whats the swl of yr crane?

am with jfm on having a jet rather than a obm
imho i would rather have the avon se400 jet dl., if cost not a factor

else
Give nautica a try at www.nauticaintl.com
almost 40% cheaper with where the $is
they make a 3.15/3.5/3.9and a4.7 mtr jet
and the level of customisation is fantastic

Think it's 400KG. The Avon SE400 Jet DL could be a possibility, but I'm not sure there is any more legroom at the helm.

I think most small RIB manufacturers can supply a boat with centre console. However, from the other RIBS you're considering, they would probably not look as stylish as the Seasport range or similar boats.
