Nothing wrong with the boat, just fed up with the hassle of trying to get "boat related" people to get on and do the bloody job.

I have never known so much farting around from so many whooly headed incompetent twots.

I am sure they are not all as bad, but I have found precious few in the 20 years I've owned a boat. Why can they not give a simple answer to a simple question:
1. Can you do my new hood? - No problem.
2. When can you do it? - When would you like it?
3. Can you give me a quote? - Be round tomorrow (lucky if its next year)
4. Where is my hood that you quoted for end January (fatal not to state the year)
- The wind has been too strong. It has been too wet/ dry (delete as appropriate). All the members of my family died in a coach crash and I've been going to funerals every day for the last 2 weeks.

After 20 years I seriously wonder if I should flog the boat and just charter something as required. Probably no more expensive and someone else gets the pleasure of dealing with these cretins. I can also charter in different places, all in warm climates,............ This is sounding better and better.

agree,

boating suppliers complete waste of time,

Boating world were born with 7 days of the week, 2 for work, 2 for thinking about work, 2 for thinking about thinking about work and the last one for not actually doing anything expect looking after the office of the marina. Also they have been given biblical authority to use them in a different order to the rest of the world.

Agreed
Especially about one particular boat yard who shall be nameless!!!!
me... please quote me a fixed price to remove 2 old engines and install these 2 new ones. To include all work necessary to engines, steering exhausts etc etc. Here's the boat to measure up and here's the phone number of the engine maker for any details you want.

Boatyard...... yes, that'll be no problem £xxx and about 10 days work

me... OK now get on with it!

6 weeks later
Boatyard..... Cant do it. Too hard, BUT, we're going to charge you almost the full price that we quoted because it's been sitting in our yard even tho we've only taken the old ones out.

!!!!!!!!!

Having said that, i asked a canopy maker for a price to make a new canopy to a photo and sketch.
Next morning ..... quote arrived
gave him the go ahead..... dely about 6 weeks due to committments (fair enuf)
Dely and fitment of new canopy on time and to an exceptional standard. Invoice as quoted too!!!
Well done Mark at Stephen Ratseys !!!!!

don't mind giving credit where it's due

Kind of you, Paul, but had a superb new hood made in Holland last year.
Time from initial approach to completed fitting, 4 weeks.
Bit different to UK.

Current work is just mod's to give more variations. Wish I had never bothered.
