Does anyone know what happened to this vessel after the OYC sold her in 1998 ? She was a custom built Oyster for Sail Training. Thanks.

Aha another question.

OYC of Southampton is afloat in precisely the same weight of water that she displaces, and hence is exactly the SAME weight as her weight in feathers, or in lead.

Also, the boat will be exactly 6 years older since 1998 but the earth will actually be NOT be in the same place as that date in 1998 because of the fact that each year is 365 days except on leap years but there's been two leapyears (hence leap days) but the amount of orbiting has been 365.25 days per year around the sun, so it's a bit out, by half a day.

all correct i think !

I believe she was sold to Gordonstoun School and is now north of the border, also her name was changed.
Lovely boat - we touched 18.9 knots on a delivery with her once..

Thanks for the information, she is now Ocrean Spirit of Moray.I also sailed on her in 1996, seems a shame that a vessel who's creation was intended to take under priviledged kids sailing is now doing just the opposite. It appears members of the public can sail on her for between £500 - £1000 per time.A bit difficult if you live on a sink estate in Bermondsey.

Sounds common for them though, Whitbread became a cherter boat, had a refit last year. We used her for Falmouth week committee boat in years past, you learnt why they had chants after pulling up the main anchor by hand-over-hand, then had to do the same at the stern.
