Reading the paper today it seems that the Severn life boat has been refused Lottery funding because it's not rescueing the right sort of people. It's rescued a few hundred folks last year but has not kept a record of there ethnic background, age or social status.!! Presumabley they will now ask for the life buoy back if the politically corect critera of rescuee has not been established! /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Ethnic and social standing questions before you are allowed out on the water, in case you need to be rescued. Or worse still thown the life ring only to have it pulled back when you surface & are considered too middle class/middle england /slightly not ahem (sorry ) white.

I work for an ethnic company and actually they are quite relaxed about their colour or lack of it, its just the yogurt knitters who are trying to do right, but seriously causing a lot of damage.

and for the record i don't care what colour, race, gender people are, just that we are all treated the same, no quotas, no inclusions due to this or that, and no exclusions.

I think this is fair, the lottery was not set up to give hand outs to racist organisations like the RNLI or mountain rescue.

The money should be put to better use assisting organisations that have a fair policy on all ethnic groups.

I do not see a problem with this at all.

well if they handed out money only to white dogs (i.e. westies) I could agree, but chances are they would rescue any sort of dog/person in trouble, and thats well just what they should be doing, /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif so very obviously no grant !

This is the main reason I dont do the lottery any more. Oh and the fact I never won anything
Haydn, how about say 20 of us pop down to Devon and go for a cruise on your boat and maybe another 20 on ljs' boat. We'll just nip round the corner into the Severn estuary, run out of fuel or hit a bridge or something and call out the lifeboat. Just before it arrives, we'll all put on false beards and towels on our heads and claim we're asylum seekers. Oh yes, we'll need some SWMBO's along to be the lesbian single mothers as well and some disadvantaged abused kids (mine does a very good impression of one)

Maybe these crack-pot safety partnerships can get lottery money to put up some more speed cameras? Now that would be popular!
